There is a saying, 'Rumors spread like wild fire.' In this super era of technology, rumor is no less than a bomb. If the bomb of rumors explodes, then everything will be destroyed! The rumor of cult films director Sudhir Mishra is based on that dangerous use of mobile. Through which, when those who sabotage an event and use it for their own interests, cross their limits, what a destructive effect it has on the people. In the film, the confusion of viral videos has been shown in a chilling thriller style. It has been told to what extent the dreaded rumor created by social media can prove to be dangerous.

how is the movie and how is the story

The story begins with a political rally in Sambalpur, in which Vicky Singh (Sumit Vyas), ambitious for his political career, with the help of his right hand and local goon Chandan (Sharib Hashmi), organizes an attack on his own rally, but the attack fails. It turns into a riot between the two communities when Chandan openly kills a butcher. The whole incident gets recorded and sets the social media on fire, and this leaves a deep dent in the reputation of not only Vicky but her future father-in-law, Gyan Singh aka Hukum Singh. Hukum Singh, who holds power in his constituency, has engaged his daughter Nivi (Bhumi Pednekar) to Vicky as part of a political alliance pact. Vicky wants to be established as a youth leader at any cost and to fulfill this political ambition, the corrupt police of the area support him in all his scandals.

Three National Award-winning Sudhir Mishra is known for popular and thought-provoking films like Hazaaron Khwaishein, Dharavi, Chameli, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi, Yeh Saali Zindagi. The attitude of this fearless filmmaker, who used to speak his mind on the sting, is clearly visible in the film as well. The first half of the film is a bit slow, but in the second half, the story gallops. It has been Sudhir Mishra's specialty to portray events in thriller style and that specialty is visible here as well. Along with fake news, the film also highlights issues like patriarchal thinking, sexual exploitation, communalism. Seeing the organized way in which fake news is being trended on social media, there is a feeling of fear and uneasiness. The climax of the film seems predictable, but gives relief. Cinematographer Mauricio Vidal has captured the horrors of the night and Rajasthan well. Sung by Rajasthani folk singer Mame Khan and Sunetra Banerjee, 'Aaj Yeh Basant Mein Gehra Asar Hai' adds to the story.
